lune's appearance!

lune is short and has light brown skin. he has pink hair and styles his bangs to resemble his clefairy's curl. he has sharp teeth and has three helix piercings on both of his ears; six spiked studs are his go-to earrings (with 3 on each ear). his eyes are brown and tend to have a sparkle to them, and his lower eyelashes are long and defined. pink is his favourite colour, and he absolutely adores cute things. he also loves alternative fashion and is very much a punk, but he doesn't think that his tastes make for a strange mix at all. fairy types alone prove that cuteness is power, and power doesn't have to be dainty!

lune enjoys designing clothes and put together his ensemble with the help of his mimikyu, applying patches, comet shards, and various accessories relevant to fairy types to his black vest. specifically, he has a fairy tera type symbol on the top right of his vest and the ptcg fairy symbol stylised on the bottom right of his vest. the ptcg fairy symbol is encircled by stars (including the fairy symbol from pokemon home). on the left side of his vest, he has an edgy version of the galar fairy symbol and more pink stars. over the part of the vest near his left shoulder, he has comet shard studs. his vest's collar has a striped pink and black design on the left side with a gen1 clefairy sprite decorating it, paired with a team yell pin (since he's a huge fan of piers' band). the collar's right side is pink with black stars on it and is decorated with more comet shard studs. the back of his vest has more comet shard studs and spikes, along with a patch of a clefairy pokedoll with the word 'METEOR' above it and 'MASH' below it (referencing pecha the clefairy's signature move).

typically, lune wears a stylishly torn pink shirt underneath his vest, paired with ripped black pants and black boots adorned with silvery spikes. he also wears fingerless gloves and tends to paint his nails black. for the most part, he likes silver and pink accessories, especially if they involve stars. his belt has silver stars decorating it, along with a chain with two dangling silver stars attached to it.

lune's personality!

emotional ★ stubborn ★ loving ★ aggressive ★ loyal

lune is a very expressive individual; it's very, very easy to tell what he's thinking. when he's happy, he laughs. when he's sad, he cries. it's as simple as that! he can be really intense and a whole lot to handle, but his blunt nature is also pretty refreshing. he has a very nurturing personality and is great at taking care of other people as well as pokemon.

when it comes to pokemon battles, he gets extremely energetic. his hot-headed streak tends to come out too, and he occassionally rushes into unideal situations out of a desire to win quickly. he also takes losing very badly and tears up whenever it happens. (luckily, pecha is used to this and comforts him.) still, lune takes developing his synergy with his team very seriously and really wants to do right by them.

lune's background!

lune's childhood

lune was born in the alola region! he grew up on ula'ula island. his mother (etienne; she was born in the kalos region) works in the hokulani observatory, and his father (kailani; he was born in the alola region) owns a malasada shop in malie city. (his family's home is on the upper level of that malasada shop.) he has one sibling - an older sister named soleil. he gets along well with his family and spends time with them very often, helping out at both the observatory as well as the malasada shop, but he tends to bicker a lot with soleil.

soleil set off on her island challenge when lune was still too young to go off on his (he was 7), and lune was extremely jealous of her. one night, in an act of childhood rebellion, he stole a pokeball from his parents' room, then snuck out of his house and ran out of the city. he knew that lots of rare pokemon lived near the hokulani observatory, as his mother caught her partner pokemon (an electabuzz) there. he wanted to catch a super rare pokemon so that he could 1) brag to his older sister that he was the better trainer and 2) prepare to be super ready for his own island challenge. he was a fairly abrasive and bratty child... but he had a good heart!!!

anyway, when lune was approaching the observatory, he heard a pokemon cry out. following the sound of its voice, lune crawled through the tall grass and soon found a tiny pink pokemon holding a pink berry that was almost as big as it was. the pokemon was in what appeared to be a fierce argument with a much larger pokemon; lune recognised it as a skarmory. suddenly, the skarmory lunged down and snatched the pink berry out of the smaller pokemon's grasp, batting the pink pokemon away. it went flying back, but lune grabbed it before it could get hurt. he ran over to the skarmory, demanding that it give the berry back. the skarmory got angry and tried to attack him, but the small pink pokemon rushed to his aid.

lune tried to battle the skarmory with the tiny pokemon by emulating the older trainers who he observed in the past, but he had no idea what the little pink pokemon even was, so his commands made no sense (he basically just kept yelling HIT IT HIT IT HIT IT). this method seemed to have worked out somehow, though, because all of the chaos confused the skarmory a whole lot. the pink pokemon managed to dodge one of the skarmory's attacks, and the bird pokemon hit itself very hard by crashing into a large rock. during all of this chaos, the head of the observatory, molayne, ran down to the patch of grass from the observatory itself. he was alarmed to see lune out so late and even more alarmed to see the feuding pokemon. he de-escalated the situation by giving the skarmory some of his own berries, which the skarmory happily ate before flying off.

relieved that the tiny pink pokemon was okay, lune gushed about how cute it was to molayne and asked what it was. after chiding him for sneaking out of his house, molayne told him that it was a cleffa. lune really wanted to catch it, so he whipped out the pokeball that he stole. however, when the cleffa saw the pokeball, it seemed afraid of it. lune asked molayne about this, and molayne explained that cleffa was pretty rare around the observatory. he hypothesized that the cleffa didn't want to be caught because many trainers must have hassled it in the past in futile attempts to add it to their teams. lune noted that the cleffa didn't seem like it enjoyed battling either. lune vowed not to bother the cleffa like the other trainers, but wanted to befriend it anyway. he gave its pecha berry back to it, giving it the name 'pecha' due to the way it resembled it, and offered to visit it again. cleffa shyly agreed to this.

even though lune got in huge trouble for sneaking out of the house, he was happy that he did, because he made a friend out of it. he was grounded, but he accompanied his mother to the observatory the following day and met up with pecha again. he brought more pecha berries for the cleffa, which brought the two of them even closer. they played so often that, once, when lune was sick and stuck at home, pecha actually braved the city and paid him a visit. as pecha grew more and more familiar with humans, he got bolder and even began stealing pecha berries from kailani's bakery. (kailani is an extremely easygoing guy, though; he never minded much - especially since spicy and bitter malasadas sold better in malie city anyway.)

years passed like this, with pecha the cleffa and lune continuing to be friends. lune adored the cleffa so much that he didn't even care about running off and catching pokemon behind his parents' backs. he stopped feeling jealous over soleil's pokemon and instead grew to secretly admire the bonds that she shared with her team. (naturally, he still boasted often about the cleffa he was friends with, though.)

on lune's 11th birthday, he visited the observatory and told pecha that he would be leaving ula'ula island for a journey around the alola region. it was finally time for his island challenge. pecha was sad about this, as he would miss his friend. but lune asked if pecha would trust him enough to be his first partner pokemon. he knew that pecha didn't like battling, and he, himself, was still pretty bad at it and prone to getting too hot-headed... but he wanted to try his best to get better at it. pecha approached him... and began to glow.

lune was immediately frazzled by this, but the rotom pokedex that professor kukui sent to him from melemele island leapt out of his bag and told him that the cleffa was just evolving. apparently, cleffa only evolve when they deeply trust their trainers. now a clefairy, pecha floated up to lune, hugging him tightly and pointing to the pokeball in his hand. inspired by each other's bravery, lune finally caught pecha officially and, in the process, got his first partner pokemon.

the island challenge

lune set off on his island challenge with pecha by his side. it took them a while to get into the swing of battling, but they persevered and practiced hard. even when lune got better at keeping calmer in battle, he still kept that extremely passionate streak of his and tended to be a teeny tiny bit of a sore loser.

on the course of his journey, lune found himself naturally drawn to fairy type pokemon - and vice versa. he knew that some trainers specialized in certain types and became relatively obsessed with showing off the brutal cuteness of the fairy type. he saw himself a whole lot in fairy type pokemon... it was really personal to him. for more about lune's team whom he met over the course of his island challenge, you can check out the pokemon team section!

after completing all of his trials and grand trials - and putting together an amazing team of powerful, cherished fairy types - lune scaled mount lanakila with his pokemon. there, he battled all four of the alolan kahunas in a row and became an island champion. he was offered a place as a trial captain by the island kahuna, nanu, shortly after this. lune immediatley accepted this role, obviously choosing the fairy type as his trial's focus.

time as a trial captain

as a trial captain, lune set himself up on ula'ula island. the site of his trial was on starfall hill, located near the hokulani observatory.

just like its name implies, starfall hill sees a lot of meteor shower activity. minior fall down there from space all the time, and various comet shards and star pieces tend to end up there. for lune's trial, challengers had to show up at night to find 5 star pieces scattered around the hill. lune advised them that wild cleffa liked to find these pieces and would likely battle the trainers for them. he also advised that the star pieces tended to fall from specific constellations, and that trial-goers could look to the skies and follow the constellations as a hint for finding these star pieces. this was especially sound advice, as the wild cleffa in the area tended to hoard other items and could trick trainers into fighting them unnecessarily.

after battling a cleffa for a star piece, the cleffa actually didn't get knocked out and instead followed the trainer, holding the star piece for them. once all 5 pieces were found and all of the cleffa were brought back to lune, the cleffa combined their star pieces to form a meteorite, which they danced around (with pecha joining them) in order to open up the totem den. the totem den then led to a totem clefable. lune gave trial-goers who successfully defeated this clefable a fairium z as a reward.

on his 20th birthday, lune retired from being a trial captain, as is customary with the practice. after dicussing potential successors with nanu, they handed his position over to acerola, who chose to specialize in the ghost type. the totem clefable that he helped raise settled on the hill, and lune still visits it whenever he's in the area.

lune now wishes to keep on traveling the world with his pokemon. above all else, he wants to grow as a fairy type specialist; to be the best trainer that he can possibly be.

current day

since retiring as a trial captain and becoming a world traveler, lune has trained with several fairy type specialists - most notably valerie in the kalos region and opal in the galar region, both of whom he idolises. he gets along well with mina (he was THRILLED to hear that the fairy trial captain flag was going to be passed over to her) and the two frequently give each other advice about their fairy type pokemon. he's also close to sophocles (whom he kind of views as a brother thanks to all the time he spent taking care of him when they were younger) and his younger cousin, ilima.

along with pecha, lune is a super-fan of piers from the galar region; they attend his shows whenever possible.

★ he was thrilled when he heard that mina chose the fairy type for her trial and boldly insists that the fairy type will always be represented in the island challenge.

★ whenever he's in alola, he helps out with his family's malasada shop. he's alarmingly good at making malasadas, much to his pokemon team's delight.

★ his mother is ilima's mother's sister. lune is in the kalos region pretty frequently because of his extended family members who live there, but the alola region is his favourite. that's home.
